The government of West Bengal would open its financial bid for the acquisition of a stake in Haldia Petrochemicals in a week. This was according to the Commerce and Industry Minister of the state.
According to Bengal's Commerce and Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee, "Deloitte, the firm managing the bidding process, will discuss the matter with the bidders and the process will be completed in 7-8 days. Everything will be done in a transparent manner."
The names of the bidders for the acquisition of the stake had not yet been announced. However, sources that were familiar with the matter said that Indian Oil Corp was the only bidder. The sources said that IOC was the sole bidder for the 31% Haldia stake as of 11 a.m. Monday which was also the deadline for bidding proposal submission.
The same source said that Reliance Industries had also submitted their bid later in the day. However, the report had not been independently confirmed, said The Economic Times.
