The new USD 100 bill has a distinctive feel to it, according to a USA Today report. One of the most notable differences of the new note would be its distinctive texture as a result of the engraving process.The process had made the bill have a distinctive feel that is achieved in raised printing.
Another feature of the new bill could be found on the left of Benjamin Franklin. The items that could be found in this area would be the copper-colored inkwell and a color-shifting bell. The "100" label would be found in the lower right corner of the bill by the inkwell. When the bell is tilted, the color would also change from copper and green.
According to the report, these features of the bill were put in to make the most popular currency counterfeited in the world more secured against forgeries. A BBC report cited data from the US Secret Service which estimated that fake bills comprised less than 0.01% of the total amount of USD 1.1 trillion being circulated. However, the Secret Service said about USD80.7 million of counterfeit notes had been exchanged in the US last year. The exchange of counterfeit money was lower abroad at USD 14.5 million.
