Website translation software startup Smartling had raised USD24 million in its recent funding round. Leading the Series C funding round was Tenaya Capital. Existing investors IDG Ventures, US Venture Partners, Felicis Ventures, Venrock and First Round Capital, among others had participated in the funding round. The funding round also saw support from new investor Harmony Partners.
The New York-based startup is popular among small and big firms who rely business growth heavily in knowledge and data of its user habits. Sapling Foundation's TED, a nonprofit organization, uses Smartling to translate its website content for its audiences abroad. Smartling had already counted brands like Pinterest, IndieGogo, Dropbox, Tesla Motors and IndieGogo, aside from TED, as its clients.
Tenaya Capital Managing Director Ben Boyer believed that Smartling had tapped into a niche market where helping businesses to grow globally would be profitable.
