Lamborghini unveiled the Veneno Roadster, a drop-top version of the Veneno which was released earlier this year. The latest version would be more expensive. While the Veneno supercar cost USD 3.9 million, the Veneno Roadster would cost USD 4.5 million. However, there would be nine models built for the Roadster compared to the three cars built in the original Veneno model.
The Veneno Roadster would feature a 740 horsepower 6.5 liter V-12 engine. It would be able to hit top speeds of 221 miles per hour. In under 3 seconds, the car could sprint from zero to 60 miles per hour. Its body would also be made out of carbon fiber. The Roadster would be scheduled to start next year.
In March, Lamborghini reported a 30% increase in its sports car deliveries last year. The carmaker owned by Volkswagen sold a record 2,083 units globally last year. However, this was still short of the 2,430 cars sold in 2008 before the economic crisis hit worldwide. Revenues also rose 46% to EUR 469 million or USD 610 million for 2012.
