Facebook users have been seeing cartoonish images flooding their News Feed these days. ABC News said Facebook didn't do a redesign. Rather, chances were high that the colorful sketches could come from a Facebook mobile app known as Bitstrips. Launched in December last year, Bitstrips also released its iPhone app in September. Earlier this week, it updated the app and launched its Android app as well.
The Bitstrip fever has caught on, according to a website that monitors app downloads. App Data said Bitstrips was the most downloaded app in both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
Meanwhile, Facebook continued to beat analysts' expectations. In an earnings call in May, Facebook said its revenue for the second quarter was pegged at 1.81 billion. It posted net income of USD 333 million. Facebook got 88% of its revenue from advertising. About 41% of the advertising revenue for the second quarter came from mobile ads.
