T-Mobile US would be offering free data downloads to customers who would purchase the latest iPad from Apple Inc. The free data downloads would reach up to 200 megabytes per month. According to a Reuters report, this was part of the mobile service carrier's move to attract cost-conscious subscribers away from rivals AT&T, Sprint Corp and Verizon Wireless.
Apple said AT&T and Sprint would charge USD 14.99 per month for iPad data use. The minimum price would cover 250 megabytes per month of data downloads for AT&T. Sprint's minimum charge, meanwhile, would include 1 gigabyte of data. Verizon's iPad data service would begin at USD 20 per month which would cover 1 gigabyte of data.T-Mobile would charge USD 30 per month for 2.5 gigabytes of data for iPad use. It did not yet state if subscribers who would choose to get the free service would encounter limits on data speeds.
