Boston Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino would not be on the starting lineup for Monday night's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. This would be the second time he would not start for the team. He was not able to play on Game 4 of the Major League Baseball World Series 2013 Sunday due to stiffness in his lower back. His replacement Jonny Gomes was able to hit a three-run home run that resulted in the win for the Red Sox. The series is now tied at two games each.

The Boston Red Sox ranked Number 3 on the Forbes list of MLB Team Valuations. As of March this year, the team was valued at USD 1.312 billion. In 2012, it posted revenues of USD 336 million on an operating income of USD 23.9 million.

When the team's venue, Fenway Park, was included in the National Register of Historic Places, the Red Sox became eligible for a tax credit worth USD 39.4 million. Forbes added that the team was also able to avail of related tax credits amounting to USD 11.2 million from the state.
