According to sources familiar with the ongoing situation, AT&T executives have laid out plans for a potential takeover bid for Vodafone Group Plc. The company has already prepared a complex deal to become the owner of the largest mobile carrier company in Europe.
There have been no formal negotiations on the matter have happened but the largest phone company in the United States is increasing its work for the assets to be retained should it succeed in the takeover plans. It has also included possible buyers for other assets that AT&T would not retain. All these were confirmed by sources who sought anonymity as the discussions were still private in nature.
As an alternative, AT&T is interested in UK carrier EE as an alternative to Vodafone. Overall, this is part of the US firm's strategy to expand into the European market, as mobile broadband adoption has not been as explosive or market shaking compared to its US counterpart.
