News aggregate startup Newsle secured USD1.8 million in Series A funding this week. This round was led by Advance Publications, according to a news report published by TechCrunch.

Harvard undergraduates Axel Hansen and Jonah Varon founded and launched Newsle in 2011. This is a San Francisco-based startup that provides person-oriented news alert over 100 million subscribers. The 5-member news aggregate team received a seed round of USD650,000 in 2012 from Lerer Ventures and SV Angel, said the report.

This week, Newsle secured a funding round amounting to USD1.85 million from a round led by veteran media company Advance Publications. Other investors that participated in this round were Maveron, Transmedia Capital, DFJ, Launny Steffens, and Rockwell Schnabel, the report stated.

The news startup had also previously raised additional capital from other investors including Bloomberg Beta, the venture capital and investment arm of Bloomberg. This was launched this summer and Newsle was its first investment, TechCrunch reported.
