Tablo launched on the crowdfunding site Indiegogo in the bid to raise funds for its over-the-air (OTA) DVR black box. This was according to a report published by CNET.
Tablo's OTA DVR allows users to stream recorded over-the-air content to various connected devices. A USB hard drive and antenna is needed for this. The box also does not have its own video output, so users would need another device for the screen, said the report.
The new OTA DVR is compatible with Roku, Apple TV, and Google Chromecast for watching TV. As for Android and iOs, the company representative said Tablo is developing something for that. Tablo could allow users to stream in and outside their home network, the report explained.
The targeted release date for Tablo was set on early 2014. Its two-tuner box was priced at USD200 and the four-tuner box at USD250. In addition to the purchase price, there would also be a monthly subscription fee of USD5 which will be used for guide data, said CNET.
