Google released an update to its Gmail for iOs mobile apps this week. The said update made it easier for users to organize mail content. However, the improvements were focused mainly on the iPad version, according to a report published by PC Mag.
Software engineer Carmen Wilkinson said in a blog post about the Gmail update: "If you hold your iPad in landscape mode, you'll immediately notice the new left hand navigation bar, which allows you to quickly switch between inbox categories, or between multiple accounts, with a single tap."
To have a more focused Gmail experience, users can hold the tablet in portrait mode. That way, they can take advantage of the full-screen to view individual messages and message threads, the report said.
The iPhone and iPod versions include the same functions for the Unread and Everything folders. However, users of small-screen devices will not have access to the same cagegory notifications and the side navigation bar. Other improvements in the app include better scrolling experience and additional space for message composition in full screen, the report explained.
iPhone, iPad, and iTouch users can now download the updated Gmail app for free in the Apple iTunes Store, PC Mag said.
