The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on Saturday said that former US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner will be joining private equity firm Warburg Pincus LLC.
Reuters, citing WSJ, reported that Geithner will join the New York-based global investment firm March of next year. Geithner will serve as Warburg Pincus' president and managing director.
Geithner was reputed for his major role in combating the financial crisis that swept through Wall Street in 2007 to 2009. He served for four years as Treasury secretary and stepped down from the post early this year.
According to an article published in the New York Times, Warburg Pincus has raised 13 private equity funds and invested over USD40 billion in more than 650 companies located in 30 countries around the world.
Warburg Pincus closed its latest fund at USD11.2 billion in May. It has around USD30 billion assets under management, said the New York Times.
Warburg Pincus operates from 12 offices in 9 countries, its website said.
