A real estate development firm has bought The Washington Post's longtime headquarters for USD159 million. This was according to a report published by My Fox DC. Graham Holdings Co, the former parent of The Washington Post, announced the deal on Wednesday. The company said the Washington building will be sold to Carr Properties. The deal is expected to be finalized by the end of March 2014, the report said.
Rima Calderon, spokeswoman for Graham Holdings, said the newspaper will still lease space in the said building until September 2015. The news firm is now owned by Jeffrey Bezos, the founder of Amazon.com. For now, The Washington Post is on the lookout for a new headquarters, said the report.
Graham Holdings is owned by Donald Graham. The firm was formerly known as Washington Post Co. The company now owns media and education businesses. The firm's holdings include TV broadcasting and cable outlets, and Kaplan education services, My Fox DC reported.
