Microsoft Corp sold raised USD8 billion with a bond offering in dollars and euros. This is a record offering from the world's biggest software maker, Bloomberg wrote.
According to data compiled by Bloomberg, Microsoft borrowed USD3.25 billion with five-, ten and 30-year notes in dollars. The Washington-based firm also issued EUR3.5 billion (USD4.8 billion) of bonds in eight and 15-year portions, the report detailed.
Top-rated borrowers are looking to raise money from the bond market despite investors favoring higher yields of lower-rated debt. Speculations abound that the Federal Reserve will soon cut stimulus measures that had lowered interest rates, the report explained.
In regulatory filings today, Microsoft said the generated proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes. The said issue came one day after Johnson & Johnson (J&J) raised USD3.5 billion in its first bond offering in two years. Microsoft, J&J, Automatic Data Processing Inc, and Exxon Mobil Corp have the highest credit rankings from Standard & Poor's and Moody's Investors Service, Bloomberg's report stated.
