Mumbai startup Birds Eye Systems raised an undisclosed amount in a Series A funding round from Matrix Partners India. The new funding will be used for the nationwide expansion of the startup's traffic and travel brand Traffline, according to The Economic Times.
Traffline provides real time updates about traffic and travel situations in Mumbai. The updates are offered through social media websites and mobile apps. At present, the product is available in four major cities in India including Delhi, Bangalore, and Mumbai, the report detailed.
Vikram Vaidyanathan, Matrix Partners India director, said of its investment: "We're investing to expand the product to 10 cities in India and multiple transport modes in a short timeframe."
Birds Eye Systems co-founder and chief executive Brijraj Vaghani said of the firm's expansion project: "We aim to own the everyday door-to-door travel and information space on mobile, be it private vehicles, public transport, or local businesses, across major Indian cities."
Matrix Partners India provides seed stage, early stage, and growth stage fundings for companies focusing on India's consumer market. This includes firms in the healthcare, technology, and education industries, The Economic Times reported.
