Global travel IT solutions provider Amadeus wants to conquer the hotel IT industry. Today, the company announced its acquisition of Newmarket International Inc in a deal valued at $500 million, according to VentureBeat.
Amadeus is a large company that provides technology solutions for tourism and travel firms. The company powers bookings, reservations, sales for hotels, car rentals, airlines, railways, and cruises, among others. The firm processes a total of 948 million billable travel deals every year. The Madrid-based company has offices all over the world. Amadeus presently employs 10,000 workers, the report detailed.
Newmarket is a company that provides a range of services to hospitality firms. These services include a CRM system, a catering solutions suite, and event management tools. The company is presently based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the report said.
Amadeus hopes the acquisition will reinformce its hotel tech and help it reach out to Newmarket's clients. The deal is expected to close early 2014, VentureBeat reported.
