Netherlands-based Mobileye NV has forged a partnership with Israel-based Accel Telecom Ltd to integrate its Collision avoidance system with Accel's VOYAGER connected car smartphone. Mobileye is a private firm that leads in the development of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. Through its unique vision-based platform, Mobileye develops solutions that mitigate and avoid the risk of collision. Its technology is or set to be available through 19 carmakers around the world and will also be sold as an aftermarket product.

Accel Telecom, meanwhile, leads in the connected car market through its Truckfone and VOYAGER connected car devices. VOYAGER combines Android smartphone technologies that give drivers a safer and superior connected car experience. A standalone 3G Connected Car Smartphone, it can be installed in any car.

In a press release, the companies said the integration solution would enable remote monitoring of Mobileye alerts sent through the VOYAGER 3G cellular connection. The solution is best for those who want to get real time updates on the behavior of their driver on the road, like families, fleet managers and insurance companies.

Accel Chief Executive Officer Marc Seelenfreund said in the statement, "VOYAGER is designed to enhance safe driving and provide an advanced connected car driving experience. The integrated VOYAGER - Mobileye solution will add an additional layer of driver safety via remote monitoring of Mobileye alerts. GSMA forecasts the global connected car market to grow threefold within 5 years and will be worth 39 Billion Euro in 2018. Adding remote monitoring for Mobileye's leading Collision Avoidance system via our connected car smartphone will certainly be beneficial for this large scale market. "

In July last year, Mobileye said they raised $1.5 billion in funds from five unnamed investors. Sources at that time said that the investors included a leading financial investor affiliated with the Chinese government and some of biggest global institutional asset managers in the US.
