London-based startup Resource Guru has bagged $870,000 in funding to replace spreadsheet-based staff management systems with a cloud-based team scheduling app. The seed round was led by Index Ventures, according to TechCrunch.
Index Ventures partner Robin Klein said in a statement: "Most managers still rely on complicated spreadsheets or cumbersome software to manage their teams and resources, neither of which makes allocating resources particularly easy and efficient. We've been impressed how Resource Guru tackled this problem with its simple to use online tool that leads to huge time savings and increased productivity."
Founded in May 2011, Resource Guru had first raised capital from family members, friends, and angel investors. Both existing and new investors participated in the seed round, but their names have not been disclosed. The London startup's total funding to date is $1.14 million, the report detailed.
According to Resource Guru, it will use the new capital for its expand its workforce, develop it product, and gain more customers. The scheduling app was launched in May 2012, but it still has not revealed the number of its customers, TechCrunch reported.
