Google Chrome became the top browser

By

Google Chrome has become the world’s top browser, surpassing Internet Explorer in recent weeks, according to a report of statcounter.

The market shares of Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and Firefox are all less than 40%, indicating that none of them is dominating the market. For the week of May 14 to May 20, Chrome’s market share was slightly higher than Internet Explorer.

Internet Explorer and Firefox are dipping in popularity, with Firefox more slowly, though Firefox usage increased a little in recent weeks.

Chrome’s success in South America last year is an important reason for its usage increase. Its popularity skyrocketed in South America for the last year, doubling to almost 52%. Chrome’s feature functions and its link to Google account maybe gave it a push too.

Other than these, Safari shares less than 10%, Opera shares less than 5%.
