BlackBerry's BBM Executive Vice President Andrew Bocking has left the smartphone company today, according to TechCrunch.
Bocking's departure was first reported by BGR. BlackBerry later confirmed the exit via email, explaining that BBM will be folded into Global Enterprise Solutions under the management of John Sims, the report stated.
The Canadian smartphone firm explained in a statement: "The BBM organization remains as a group within BlackBerry and will continue to focus on BlackBerry and BBM strength in messaging and new areas of strength such as mobile marketing, community-building and enterprise messaging. John Sims, President, Global Enterprise Solutions, who has extensive experience in mobile messaging, will add the BBM team to his organization."
The move to integrate BBM into a new home could point to a new focus on the enterprise market. BBM could be moving away from its present consumer push. When the iOS and Android apps were launched in 2013, consumers welcomed them enthusiastically. But there has been no news about their progress since then, TechCrunch reported.
