The region of Abu Dhabi will establish a presence of a major, global studio for the first time, with Digital Domain Media Group planning to have a studio of animation, visual effects and motion capture and a media school. Digital Domain will be funded 100M U.S. dollars in grants from the Abu Dhabi government.
The studio will start production of visual effects and animation in twofour54, an Abu Dhabi-government-backed media and entertainment hub, at the beginning of 2013. The entertainment will be Middle Eastern branded, but it seeks global audiences.
The Digital Domain Institute in Abu Dhabi, which will start classes early in 2014, will train students in the aspects of essential skills of digital media.
