Coldlilies, an online jewelry retail platform, has received $50,000 in funding from the Competitive Start Fund for female entrepreneurs of Enterprise Ireland. Co-founders Ciara McKenna and Kim Knowles will use the capital to start the next phase of their jewelry business, according to Irish Independent.
Next month, both McKenna and Knowles will fly to Austin, Texas to participate in the South by SouthWest digital conference. The two college buddies will give a talk on the future of fashion retail and meet up with potential investors, the report detailed.
Knowles said of their jewelry startup: "Coldlilies is an online retail destination platform and we give independent and professional jewelers a platform to sell and market their brand globally. We couldn't find anything like the local designers we'd found in London or Australia, Brooklyn and the Marais in Paris. We browsed, but it was very hard to find the same type of jewelry here. It was either high street or high end."
McKenna and Knowles self-funded their business in 2012 using their own savings and developed the sompany's website. According to McKenna, they want Coldlilies to be a prime destination site for jewelry shoppers, Irish Independent reported.
