Home cleaning startup Homejoy opened a second office in New York City. Up until January, the San Francisco-based firm has managed to expand its services to over 30 markets in North America with just one office, according to TechCrunch.
The startup first launched its services in New York City almost a year ago. Across all the places it serves, Homejoy uses a group of contract cleaners headed by local managers, the report said.
According to northeast regional manager Danny Rueda, Homejoy's business model helps keep the company's operational costs low. However, the problem with it is that the local managers do not have a real connection to its main office or to the company itself. For this reason, the startup decided to open a New York office to function as the city managers' meeting place. Rueda also said he is now looking for customer service and data science personnel, the report detailed.
If Rueda succeeds in this new endeavor, Homejoy will perhaps open additional offices in other US cities which will use the same business model, the report speculated.
Last year, Homejoy announced that it had secured $38 million in its first and second financing rounds, TechCrunch reported.
