Jimmer Fredette and the Sacramento Kings had been working out on a contract buyout. This was according to the general manager of the Kings, Pete D'Alessandro, who told reporters last Tuesday morning. D'Alessandro said that he was approached by the representatives of Fredette regarding a buyout. If the buyout would push through, this would make Fredette a free agent as soon as he clears waivers.
In a statement, D'Alessandro said that the Fredette is no longer fit for the plans of the team. However, this was contradictory to what Kings' owner Vivek Ranadive said. According to Vivek, "loves Jimmer and wants to do the right thing by Jimmer. We're just talking about things at this point. There's nothing done at this point."
Meanwhile, a source who was familiar with the discussions but refused to be named said that the matter was already being talked about. The source added that both sides were hoping to finalize the agreement by the end of the week.
This season, Fredette had made around USD2.4 million.
