Last Wednesday, violence broke out in court after a judge found Michael Adebolajo and accomplice Michael Adebowale guilty for the death of British soldier Lee Rigby. Adebolajo was sentenced to die in prison while Adebowale was sentenced to life imprisonment with a maximum term of 45 years.
Adebolajo had led a terroristic attack on Rigby who was "butchered" in the street. He was joined by his 22 year old accomplice, Adebowale, who was seen to have been enthusiastic about butchering Rigby to death.
Before their sentence was read, the pair had fought with the guards. This resulted for them to be bundled out of the dock in central London. Both Adebolajo and Adebowale's sentences were read by the judge from outside their cells. According to the judge, "It is no exaggeration to say that what the two of you did resulted in a bloodbath."
The jury had found both Adebowale and Adebolajo guilty in December 2013. However, the judge delayed their sentence until a court ruling came out clarifying that those who have been convicted of the most serious murders could never be released. The ruling came out earlier this month.
