Paco de Lucia, a world renowned flamenco guitarist, has died at age 66. Lucia has captured his audiences with his incredible guitar finger work and lightning-fast speed on flamenco rhythms. According to Spanish officials said last Wednesday, Lucia died in Mexico.
The spokesperson of Algeciras' town hall, the native town of Lucia, they were informed by his family members that the flamenco guitarist died due to a heart attack. The official also added that Lucia started to feel ill while on the beach together with his child. He died as he was being brought to a local hospital in Cancun. The official refused to be named as the town hall regulations did not allow her to be publicly identified.
The death of Paco de Lucia was described to be premature. It was also unexpected as the guitar player only went out on vacation. In 1973, Lucia's Entre Dos Aguas rumba became one of the most popular hits in Spain.
