Singaporean crowdfunding platform Crowdonomic has teamed up with non-profit group Earth Hour for a new set of projects. The pair aims to raise funds to support environmental endeavors from the tech industry, according to TechCrunch.
Earth Hour Blue is the name of the new platform born out of the team-up. This platform will raise funds from individuals to support World Wildlife Fund projects. Some of its on-going campaigns are Bancas for the Philippines, a project that aims to provide fiberglass boats to fishermen affected by the Super Typhoon Haiyan; Stop the Killing!, an anti-wildlife smuggling project in Southeast Asia; and Restore The Roodeberg, a fundraising project for the conservation of the Table Mountain National Park in South Africa, the report detailed.
In an email, co-founders Leo Shimada and Nicola Castelnuovo described the new platform: "This project is a showcase of our new enterprise crowd-powered solutions which allows large institutions to harness the power of crowdfunding at a global scale using Crowdonomic's expertise and infrastructure.
The project also gives Singapore-based group Earth Hour more access to world environmental projects. According to the non-profit group, it has already supported projects in 154 countries, TechCrunch reported.
