Gareth Edwards who hails from Pontypool did not expect getting an offer as huge as Godzilla. The 38 year old filmmaker's debut was a sci-fi film with a GBP10000 budget. Meanwhile, Edwards did not expect that his next film would be offered with a stunning USD160 million budget. Godzilla is also one hotly anticipated movie this year.
Edwards is currently busy doing the final touches of the film. According to a report from Walesonline, Edwards had always wanted to shoot a monster movie. However, he never thought that he would get the chance as big as directing the remake of the Japanese monster, Godzilla.
Edwards said, "I never expected them to offer me this. And had you told me back then that this would be my next movie, I would have never, ever have believed it."
The filmmaker also intends to have his version of Godzilla to be true to its origin. He also added, "Just because this is a fantasy film doesn't mean you can't deny what lies beneath,"
