Uefa bans Manchester City's boss Manuel Pelligrini for misconduct

Manuel Pellegrini, Manchester City's boss, was given a two-match touchline ban. The immediate sanction was imposed by Uefa after Pellegrini criticized the referee in a Champions League match against Barcelona. The city manager was also given a one-game ban suspension for two years. Pellegrini was allowed to appeal for this matter.

According to BBC, Pellegrini stated after a 2-0 loss that the referee, Jonas Eriksson, was not fair to both teams. The Uefa committee charged the Manchester City boss with misconduct and was restricted to go beyond the stands for the second leg on March 12 and one more game.

In a statement released by Uefa, "The City manager will be banned for his team's round-of-16 second leg against Barcelona in Spain on 12 March. This means that Pellegrini may follow the game from the stands only; he may not enter the dressing room, tunnel or technical area before or during the match; and he may not communicate directly or indirectly with his players and/or technical staff during the game."
