Lupita Nyong'o and Jennifer Lawrence had one thing in common during the 86th Academy Awards night ceremony. Both ladies were nominated for Best Supporting Actress category. After having to win the Golden Globe and BAFTA awards, respectively, Lawrence went once again head to head with Nyong'o for the prestigious golden statuette. However, J-Law lost the battle to 31 year old Lupita after the latter was declared the Oscars winner.
Jennifer Lawrence starred in the movie American Hustle while Lupita Nyong'o was part of 12 Years a Slave. Earlier that night, Lupita and Jennifer shared warm hugs on the red carpet. This was after being together many times as nominees during the entire awards season.
When the two women met backstage, Jennifer playfully made an attempt to steal Lupita's golden statuette. Lupita played along and pretended to fight for her golden statuette award. Meanwhile, Lawrence was no sore loser as she was seen to be genuinely happy for her rival's achievement.
