Ales Hemsky signs contract with Ottawa Senators, leaves Oilers

Last Wednesday, the Ottawa Senators bagged a contract with Ales Hemsky. The contract was inked in exchange for the third and fourth round draft pick. Ales Hemsky was previously playing for the Edmonton Oilers. Hemsky was named the first star of the game after he scored two goals last Tuesday. The game ended in 3-2 win against the Senators.

The 30 year old Hemsky played a total of 11 seasons with the Oilers. In the past few years, he was a target of trade rumors, reported NHL. Hemsky was selected by the 2001 NHL Draft by Edmonton during the first round.

In an interview after the game last Tuesday, Hemsky told CBCSports.com, "It is hard not to think about it when you are hearing all the rumors, but I have been in this situation for the last four years. I just tried to play my game and not think about it. It was fun. It was definitely a nice game [against Ottawa] for me if it was my last one here, but it is still sad if it comes to an end. It is what it is. It is a business. We'll see what happens."
