Canadian International Grains Institute (Cigi) has secured a $1-million boost from Viterra Inc. The investment will go towards the local and international promotion of Canadian field crops, according to The StarPhoenix.
The report cited Cigi Chief Operating Officer (CEO) Earl Geddes saying: "This is a milestone day for Cigi. It marks the first time in the new marketing era that an industry partner has made such a significant financial contribution in support of our work and mission to create a global advantage for Canadian field crops."
Viterra CEO for North America Kyle Jeworski stressed that the amount the company shelled out is not a donation. Rather, it is an investment. Consequentially, Cigi will name one of its meeting rooms in its headquarters as the Viterra Knowledge Centre, according to Winnipeg Free Press.
Cigi is a non-profit agricultural entity that aims to promote Canadian field crops. The organization also conducts customized training and seminars for its clients in different countries, Winnipeg Free Press reported.
