On Sunday, report from the US Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed that an earthquake has hit Northern California and some parts of Oregon. The magnitude 6.9 earthquake trembled on the mentioned places but has not left any damage or injuries, reported CNN.
The main quake occurred 10:18pm PT with depth of around 10 miles and was centered 50 miles west of Eureka California in the Pacific Ocean, reported USGS.
There were more than 15 recorded aftershocks that took place within five hours after the first hit of the earthquake. According the USGS, the strongest aftershock took place in the ocean and was recorded to be a 4.6 magnitude temblor. Meanwhile, the strongest shake took place in Eureka while weaker tremor was felt in the San Francisco area and the west central Oregon, said USGS.
According to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, no news of tsunami threat had been dispatched.
