Robocoin plans to launch Bitcoin ATM in more locations worldwide

Robocoin is going global, with plans to launch its Bitcoin ATM in 10 more locations around the world, TechCrunch reported.

The company, which installed its first Bitcoin ATM in Vancouver, Canada in October last year, already crossed the US market when it put up its first machine last month in Austin, Texas. It already has a presence in Asia when it headed to Hong Kong and Taiwan in January, the report said.

The firm will be shipping Bitcoin ATMs to Ireland, Israel and Singapore on March 10 and then to Japan and Czech Republic on March 12. On March 14, two machines will be sent to Australia, one in the UK and another in Italy. It will also be adding to its US presence by shipping ATMs to Boston, Massachusetts and Seattle, Washington. Each location will set particular launch dates since each ATM will still have to go through clearing in their country's respective customs, the report said.

Robocoin ATMs allow Bitcoin holders to exchange their cash to Bitcoin and vice-versa, simplifying a process that has normally been considered laborious. For those new to the crypto-currency world, Robocoin features a "generate wallet" that will guide them to the process of buying and selling Bitcoin, the report said.

With the well-publicized closure of Mt. Gox and the frequent value swings of the digital currency, an ATM that enables users to immediate take out their Bitcoins could serve as a reassurance to Bitcoin users and this could work to Robocoin's advantage. Users, however, should understand that in order to undertake trades for their customers, Robocoin's technology still has to link with digital currency exchanges like Bitstamp, BTC China and Mt. Gox before it went bankrupt, the report said.

Robocoin's machines are equipped with scanners for hand, government issued ID and webcam hardware since it keeps customers' records to comply with US rules on FinCEN, anti-money laundering and Know Your Customer regulations, the report said.
