Bob Crow, the general secretary of the Rail Maritime and Transport union died last Tuesday. This was according to a report from BBC News.
The 52 year old union leader was said to have incurred a heart attack which led to Bob Crow’s death early morning Tuesday. In statement from London Mayor Boris Johnson he said, "I am shocked. Bob Crow was a fighter and a man of character."
Johnson was known to have been in clashing opinions with Crow regarding plans for the Tube. Ed Miliband, another labor leader said that Crow was, "a major figure in the Labour movement and was loved and deeply respected by his members".
David Cameron, the official representative of the prime minister, offered sympathy to the loss of the Crow family and friends.
Crow was elected general secretary of RMT last 2002. The succession was after former leader Jimmy Knapp died that year. According to BBC’s political editor Nick Robinson, “Crow was, some argue, the most successful union leader in terms of securing jobs and pay for his members".
