British virtual mobile network Ovivo shuts down unexpectedly, caused users' outage

By

Ovivo, a British mobile virtual network operator, has shut down without warning clients. The company cited reasons that were beyond their control as posted on the company’s website.

Ovivo clients were allowed to access the network of Vodafone for no monthly fee. The company was funded through advertisements that users agreed viewing every 10 minutes.

The customers of the British firm took their outage to web forums following the unexpected shutdown. Most of the clients were upset as transactions were still allowed to go on as late as Wednesday afternoon. According to users’ reports, the mobile phone services were shut down. Reports also added that users could no longer access their accounts to retrieve remaining or unused credits.

On their website, the company wrote that they could still keep their number by filling up a form. However, the demands could be very high and codes for this offer may take a long time to arrive. Ovivo’s social media accounts including Facebook and Twitter were also deactivated following the shutdown. According to industry websites, Ovivo has more than 50,000 subscribers.
