German app crowdtesting startup Testbirds picks up €2.1M in Series A funding

By

Mobile and web app crowdtesting startup Testbirds has raised €2.1 million ($2.9 million) in its first funding round with Seventure Partners as lead investor. The German firm will use the new capital for its European expansion, according to TechCrunch.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Philipp Benkler explained: "The majority of clients already come from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. We started around nine or 10 months ago with the first international steps. We also have quite a lot in Hungary, we have the first in the U.K., and also a couple in the Netherlands. But the majority - 70%-80% - of the clients are from Germany. But that will obviously change as we're growing the teams now and focusing also on additional countries besides those five countries."

Right now, Testbirds is gearing up for the release of a more affordable self-service verison of its product. This one has no project management and consultancy feature, the report explained.

Founded in 2011, Testbirds lets companies subject their apps to scrutiny by a network of testers signed up to the startup who will locate bugs and faults in the app. Its current clients now incude BMW, Redbull, and Audi, TechCrunch reported.
