American taxpayers are not so happy to hear the latest travel news about President Barack Obama’s family. Michelle Obama, her mother and daughters are traveling to China but will not allow the press to cover the trip. Further, the First Lady did not schedule any interviews while in China.
The trip was said to be on a “person-to-person exchange” and was set to emphasize the importance of the two countries have regarding education. This was the White House’s justification on why the press is not allowed to accompany the First Lady in her trip.
In a report from the New York Times, Michelle Obama’s chief of staff said that the trip would be most valued by the Chinese people. Tina Tchen, Mrs. Obama’s chief of staff is a first generation Chinese-American. She said that the multigenerational visited would be very much appreciated by the Chinese who pays high regard to value tradition.
