On Monday, Dell announced that it has bought analytics and data visualization firm StatSoft. The financial terms of the acquisition deal were not disclosed, according to ZDNet.
The transaction will allow Dell to enhance its software product lineup with the addition of analytics and data management. The tools of StatSoft will be integrated into Dells's own database management applications, the report stated.
StatSoft is a company that provides analytics and data mining products to help enterprises achieve growth and manage their data stored in different servers and cloud storages. The Oklahoma-based firm's flagship product is data analytics and prediction tool Statistica. Pepsi, Schlumberger, and Lenovo are among the clients of StatSoft, PC World detailed.
Dell started out as a hardware company. However, the plunging sales in PCs and servers have pushed the Texas-based firm to shift its focus to software three years ago. Quest Software, Wyse, AppAssure, SonicWall, Make, Clerity, and Boomi are among the software companies that Dell has acquired, the report added.
