NFL star Jared Allen, Minnesota Vikings defensive end, took a big career turn last Wednesday. This was after he announced pulling off a big surprise during the offseason. Allen said that he had a signed a contract with the Chicago Bears for four years. This was according to a report from USA Today.
The contract of the former Vikings defensive end ended after last season resulting to Allen being a well publicized free agent. He had several offers coming from the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys. However, Allen made an announcement on Wednesday morning saying a deal was inked with the Bears.
In a text message sent to USA TODAY Sports, Allen wrote, “I'm excited. I have been blessed to (play) for some amazing franchise(s) and the Good Lord has blessed me again."
The new contract signed by Allen is another major move following Julius Peppers’ transfer from Chicago Bears to the Green Bay Packers. According to USA Today, the Bears ended 30th in total defense last year with around 400 yards and 30 points for each game.
