Game of Thrones Season 4 sets new record high for HBO

Fantasy series Game of Thrones did it again following seasons of thrills and excitement for viewers. In the first episode of the TV series’ season four, Game of Thrones took a total of 6.6 million viewers glued on their TV sets.

This made Game of Thrones season four pilot episode “Two Swords” HBO’s top ranking episode. This was after the season ender of The Sopranos in 2007 where a total of 11.9 million viewers were listed to have watched the show.

The Internet was also flooded with Game of Thrones reaction garnering 1.9 million Facebook users’ attention and 2.8 million users engaging to topics relating to the TV series. The pilot episode of the fourth season of Game of Thrones was replayed two hours later the fantasy series’ first broadcast which added 1.6 million TV viewers.

Meanwhile, authorities had been hunting down illegal websites offering illegal downloads. This was after the Game of Thrones season three ender became the world’s most pirated TV episode. Figures showed that there were 5.9 million people who accessed the last episode through BitTorrent.
