Food startup SpoonRocket has secured $10 million in funding to deliver meals to San Franciso and East Bay for $8 within 15 minutes. Foundation Capital and General Catalyst are the investors in this round, according to TechCrunch.
SpoonRocket wants to become the quickest and most convenient meal delivery service for its clients. To achieve that goal, the startup presents its customers with several meal choices that cost $8 each. People can order food via online or using the company's mobile app and wait for it to be delivered within a few minutes, the report explained.
To keep the food warm, SpoonRocket uses a customized heating compartment built into its delivery vehicles. Unlike its competitors that serve only lunch or dinner, the Berkeley-based startup aims to deliver meals all throughout the day. Its charge is also $2 cheaper than most of its rivals, the report detailed.
SpoonRocket is a product of Y Combinator, It had previously closed $2.5 million in its seed round, TechCrunch reported.
