US online publisher Glam rebrands as Mode Media after $15M funding round

By

Online publishing and ad firm Glam Media has changed its name to Mode Media. The rebranding comes on the heels of an unannounced funding that closed at $15 million. Investors of the said round were not disclosed, according to TechCrunch.

In February, co-founder and chief executive officer (CEO) Samir Arora said that Foodie and its other related apps have become successful. The previously female-focused website has already started reaching male audiences, so it wanted to find a more appropriate name for the company. Meanwhile, the Glam website will remain a part of the firm's portfolio.

The firm is also launching 10 news shows and a new production division in Los Angeles which will be named Mode Entertainment Studios. This project will distribute videos across Mode's other websites, the report added.

Glam reportedly filed secretly for an initial public offering (IPO) more than a year ago. However, due to the recent changes in the company, the IPO has been temporarily held off, TechCrunch reported.
