Android smartphones have been dominating the market share for quite some time now. Here are some of the top smartphones for 2014. Consumers looking for their handset can find these devices ideal for different types of needs.
1.) Samsung Galaxy S5
Samsung finally unveiled its Galaxy S5, which had a couple of similarities to the iPhone 5S. It comes with Android 4.4, with a big 5.1 inch HD screen, and a 2.5 GHz quad-core processor with Adreno 330 GPU. It boasts a 16 MP rear camera, and a 2MP front camera. You will notice a finger print scanner, like the iPhone 5S.
2.) Sony Xperia Z1 Compact
This smartphone has the same 4G LTE connectivity and 20 megapixel camera that the top-end Experia Z1 has, but comes in a smaller 4.3 inch display. It runs on Android 4.4 with a 2.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8974 processor, and like mentioned earlier has a 4.3 inch TRILUMINOS display. It carries a 20.7 MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera. It is completely water and dustproof, and has 16GB of internal storage.
3.) HTC One M8
It looks like the original HTC One, but the M8 features an aluminum shell that gives it a firm feel, as compared to the Galaxy S5's plastic feel. It has a large, high pixel density display (5 inch screen and 441 pixels per inch), a 4MP UltraPixel rear camera and a 4MP front camera.
4.) Samsung Galaxy Note 3
This is the sequel to the Galaxy Note 2. It has a lot of improvements and it supports Samsung's Galaxy Gear smartwatch. It runs on Jellybean (Android 4.3) on a 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 quad core processor. It has a large 5.7 inch display with 388 pixels per inch. It has 3GB of RAM, a stylus, a 13MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera. And also has 4G LTE.
5.) Motorola Moto X
Instead of having one chip with multiple cores working, the Moto X has eight cores spread over four different chips, with each doing a different activity. This supposedly speeds the smartphone up, as well as preserves the battery. It runs on Android 4.2.2 with a Motorola X8 computing system, which contains a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro dual-core at 1.7GHz, a quad-core Adreno 320 GPU, and two other lower power processors. It has a 4.7 inch HD 720p display, a 10 MP rear camera, and a 2MP front camera.
