Renowned actor of "The Shield" Michael Jace was arrested last night for shooting his wife at home in Los Angeles.
Jace, 51, called 911 after shooting his wife, April, in the head Detective Dean Vinluan said in a statement to CNN. He added that "he was on the phone with the operator." Neighbors had also called 911 after hearing the calls the detective acknowledged.
The police released a statement: "At this moment the motive of the murder is believed to be domestic violence."
Jace had been detained at the murder scene's home in Hyde Park on Monday, where he eventually was taken to Jail Tuesday on $1 million bail.
Their two children, who Jace would not reveal their age, were present at the time of the shooting. CNN reports that they were taken to the local police station where California Department of Children's Services took over to represent them.
The shooting does follow financial stress indicated by a chapter 13 bankruptcy filing to restructure and reduce the cost of his mortgage payment. Upon filing, he cited $500,000 in debts complimented by a $80,000 annual income from residuals off of his past works in movies, TV as a actor.
The case had been dismissed by Jace this past December, that allowed him to keep the home- the location of the shooting.
April, the victim, had been married to Jace from 2003- dated approximately 1 year after Jace divorced his x-wife with whom he fathered a child-now teen.
Jace is mostly known for his works in his 22-year long acting career as a rookie officer Julien Lowe in "The Shield." You may have seen him in some episodes of "Southland" and other roles in "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation"; "Private Practice," "The Mentalist," "Burn Notice," and "NYPD Blue."
Notable films include a role with him starring as NBA star Michael Jordan titled "Michael Jordan: An American Hero." He also appeared in movies starring Russell Crowe "State Play" and in "Forest Gump" starring Tom Hanks.
