Apple iPhone 6 Cannot Deliver Full HD Expectations, iPhone 6 to Feature 1704x960 Display

By

Apple has been making the headlines for its upcoming iPhone 6. It has gathered even more hype following reports that the company wants to come out with a large-screen or phablet edition. Whereas there have been many predictions and tips about the phablet iPhone 6, the final details have yet to be announced. According to recent information, Apple may not be able to deliver the HD expectations that many industry analysts predicted. The tech giant may have to stick with a 1704 x 960 display for the meantime.

According to 9to5Mac, several analysts and industry observers believe that Apple may push the iPhone's software interface although it will opt for 1136 x 640 resolution similar to the iPhone 5s. This will guarantee that despite the changes in the screen sizes and interface, the iOS software and App Store apps can still work properly. Likewise, this should also help Apple make the transition between the changes in the screen and dimensions of the iPhone 6.

Changes in screen and display specifications often require developers to make additional changes to their apps to match the new features. It appears Apple does not want developers to have their work cut out for them as much. One downside of ensuring smoother transition is sacrificing the quality of the display. Consumers cannot expect the iPhone 6 to provide Retina-like resolution while in transition.

Apple has followed a similar approach in 2010 and 2012. The company switched to the Retina Display in 2010 for the iPhone 4 and to a taller screen in 2012 for the iPhone 5s. Major changes in the iPhone 6's resolution will require Apple and developers to work together. It may take some time to fully realize Apple's vision for a high-quality resolution on a larger screen. Apple has not made any official announcements yet about the final details of the iPhone 6.

Some of Apple's expected moves to change the resolution according to TIME and 9toMac include working out the display code and using pixel-tripling (3X) mode.
