Host Nation Brazil favorite to win 2014 FIFA World Cup

By

Which team is favored to win the 2014 FIFA World Cup? The four teams that usually pop-up when this question is brought into light are Brazil, Argentina, Germany and Spain. Although the Spaniards are entering the tournament as the defending champions and have been playing solid football thus far, the home team Brazil has risen as the clear favorites to win it all.

Brazil's coach Luiz Felipe Scolari seems to agree with the predcitions, boldly stating that "Brazil will be world champions" after his team crushed Honduras after a 5-0 friendly game held in November. And while it is obvious that his roster lacks the international experience that a few of the European powerhouses possess, there is an apparent abundance of talent at every position.

Even Brazil legend Pele believes that his country can add its sixth World Cup title this coming summer. "Brazil has a good defense and a good team and it would be fantastic if they got to the final with Germany", Pele said in an interview with Skysports. He did however, also stated that Germany and Spain would come up as the biggest hurdles to Brazil's title aspirations.

But aside from their head coach and legendary player - who obviously will root for their national team - economists at Goldman Sachs also believe that the Brazilians have the best chance to win the world cup. In an article at TheSreet, Goldman's calculations give the home team a 3:1 odds to win the title and a 48.5% probability of victory. South American rivals Argentina comes in with the second best chance at at 9:2 and a 14.1% probability of winning.

Almost everyone who knows foot ball seems to favor the home squad to win in the 2014 FIFA world cup. But with a proven coach in Luiz Felipe, a talented roster that feature world renowned players like Neymar, Dani Alves, Oscar and Hulk , a rich history in Football, and of course a fanatic home crowd, it's not hard to do just that.
