CNN compiles 20 travel mistakes most travelers make

By

CNN has travelled all over the world covering news in different countries. In a recent article, they share some of the most common travel blunders to readers--to educate as well as warn them, so they won't make the same mistakes.

The first item on the list is overpacking. One does not need to have a fresh new set of clothes for each day of the trip. A study has actually revealed that two-thirds of travelers go home from a trip with at least six unworn items of clothing.

Here's a quote from Stacy Small from Elite Travel International and this came from Independent Traveller: "Packing TOO much. Happens every time."

Another mistake, according to the list, is regretting of not buying something you really wanted. If you see you really like, better buy it right away--you will most likely not find anything like it again.

Another blunder is not checking your phone plans. Many have fallen victim to this--visiting another time zone and finding a ridiculous amount in their cellphone bill once they get home. Big fees apply when you use your cellphone in another country, so make sure that you check your data details first before taking off.

Guide books are great, but you don't have to use them all the time. When making your travel plans, getting one or two suggestions per day is enough. Make room for spontaneity.

And then there's bargaining. Don't waste time and energy trying to haggle if the difference is only a few cents.

When it comes to taking photos, CNN suggests that one should not be obsessive. Travel is about the spontaneity, and you would miss a lot if you take pictures of every single thing you encounter. Put that camera down and experience the moment!
