In last season 2's finale, Sara Lance entrusts her leather jacket to her sister and takes off her gloves. She says goodbye to Black Canary while Roy Harper becomes Arrow's sidekick. The upcoming season shows what's in store for Sara, Laurel and Roy. The season also delves more into Oliver Queen's tragic loss coping with the death of his sister and mother.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Arrow's cast shared some spoilers giving viewer a peek on what to expect. According to Katie Cassidy (Laurel Lance in the series), Laurel may step up in place of her sister to be Black Canary. Sara has already given up the identity after she became a part of the League of Assassins. However, the Arrow cast told Entertainment Weekly that it can still change depending on what the writers want.
As for the relationship between Oliver and Laurel, Cassidy explained Laurel's deeper feelings for the character once she found out he was Arrow. Given Canary and Arrow has always been together, it should be just a matter of time before the two unite.
Colton Haynes, on other hand, discussed his role as a sidekick. According to Haynes, Roy may become a member of Team Arrow in the next season although he has to deal with emotional issues especially after Thea Queens's betrayal.
"I think he's going to go down a path of lies." Haynes added.
Season 3 will also be an emotional rollercoaster for Oliver. Losing this family will drive the character to the dark side according to Christian Today. As for new characters, there have been reports about Stephen R. McQueen joining the cast as Nightwing. The star from the "Vampire Diaries" has openly expressed his interest over playing the part. The actor posted a photo on Instagram posing with Oliver Queen with the hashtag "#nightwing."
