Daughters of Casey Kasem to pull life support

The daughters of ailing legendary radio DJ Casey Kasem have made the decision to stop giving him food and fluids.

A judge has approved the move, said reports. During a ruling on Wednesday, attorney Troy Martin confirmed that Superior Court Judge Daniel Murphy has decided that giving the Kasem food and fluids would cause the DJ more pain.

It was Kasem's daughter Kerri who implemented the measures. It was her, and not Kasem's wife Jean, who have control over Kasem's health.

There has been a feud going on between Kerri and Jean, after the latter took Kasem away from a nursing home in May.

Judge Murphy said that Jean didn't act in the 80-year-old's best interests after he removed him from the "skilled" nursing hom--(against doctors' orders--and took him to a private home in Washington.

"We have tried everything to keep him alive. We did put him back on fluids, but we had to take him off again because his lungs were filling up. It sounded like he was drowning. It was excruciating to watch," the 41-year-old Kerri told reporters.

Jean reportedly stormed out of the court room after the decision.

According to a report by TMZ, the decision is a result of what Kasem told his children in his health directive document: "If the extension of my life would result in mere biological existence, devoid of cognitive function, with no reasonable hope for normal functioning, then I do not desire any form of life-sustaining procedures, including nutrition and hydration."

Kasem, best known for being the host of radio program "American Top 40" that run from the 70s to 2009, has been in critical condition since early June. He is in the late stages of Lewy Body Disease, a form of dementia that makes patients unable to walk and talk.

Kasem will be surrounded by family in his final week.
